Keeping it positive, no point being otherwise.
But truth be told,OUR TAXES PAY FOR ALOT, WE DESERVE A BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE!

For those of us who have been walking home like a member of the Three Blind Mice committee
along Lefferts, East of Bedford, it's been 9wks since the silver painted lamp post were removed and replaced by a replicated Corvington styled "black lamp posts". How well I remember, I wondered why they'd remove them a week before Labor Day Weekend?
I've called the Dept of Transportation 718.222.7259 to be guided to call 718.786.4595 who handle street lighting issues, only to receive the abominable voice mail. CON EDISON is on the scene.....we hope.
Here's a link I found that's provides historic detail about ole' Brooklyn street lighting facts/myths.

If you've been making attempts to leave comments, I appreciate it; one brave soul did anonymously.
It would be awesome to re-activate a block association, but someone, I get the feeling,
no one really wants to be bothered. I could be wrong; I'd like to get candid feedback.
Until the lights come back on, we'll keep the porch light burning.
P.S. I'd start traveling with a flashlight, no point walking home in the dark waiting for the DOT.
Ready to re-launch the block association? We're only 4 blocks worth, let me know

Hope to see more of you for the next planning session of our soon to come FOOD CO-OP.

The neighborhood divides
What divides a neighborhood? Is it income status, ethnicity, or standards? If you bike through Brooklyn, you get to observe and hear the variables Brooklyn offers by community; if you drive you merely get to see it. As I teach from Crown Heights to Canarsie, from Stuyvesant to Valley Stream, I'm convinced the solution to the challenges facing most schools encountering problematic pupils is not the school but the parents.
Children, no different than us, will only do what they are allowed.
We allow boys and older males to wear their jeans below their buttocks exposing their briefs/boxers.
I'll never get used to it and sharply look away when I see it.
I wish I could get other women/mothers to join me since "MEN" aren't standing up with enough stance to make an impact. ACS can't make our children dress appropriately, but I know who can.
For as much criticism as Farakhan gets, you can't argue with the man when he is right.
Americas public has adopted a cereal bowl mentally. Americans take what they like and toss
out what doesn't "agree" with them, for it may consist of change, that makes one uncomfortable.
As I walked to my car after dismissal, the echoing outburst that gave me chills were filled with language street winos wouldn't say back in the day! And trust, it takes alot to give me chills,
if my mom were alive, she'd tell you!!! Knowing you've reached a few, means more than not having reached any. When you see young adults, especially males dressing appropriately, compliment them. Thank them for wearing their pants properly, fittingly, aptly or accordingly; just thank them! We ought to be startin somethin; lets focus more on the "Man in the Mirror".
Brooklyn can't get worst! We simply can't allow it.

The power of the pen has been upstaged by e-mail
So what am I doing up at 2:15am? I have to take my cats Amber Rose and Ebony Diamond to the ASPCA Pet Mobile at Grand Army Plaza in 2.5hrs....I should be sleeping, I kept receiving odd text recommending music downloads and I couldn't get back to sleep.
With that said, I'll add words that matter or matter to most.
It's awesome to live in a neighborhood with such a blend of cultures. I like the combination of retirees who have stories to share from the 30s and 40s including my uncle who remembers when the IRT and IND were built, and the newbies exploring Brooklyn for the first time.
Don't you just love around election time when the street lamp post are bombarded with over-sized posters of politicians who are pimping us for votes? I've written every local politician about a pertinent concern re:11225, only to receive a general response.
How do we maintain the standard of living we enjoy here in 11225?
A neighbor's plant was stolen from our stoop 9/30/09. What's even
worst is that it withstood harsh winters and brutal heat only to fall prey to lazy looters. The irony is, since the new "lamp post" were installed to replace the silver post, we haven't had light for over a month. We've been using our light sensor to light the sidewalk and (3) houses. I still believe in Brooklyn, which is why I'm still here. Many have happily relocated to Warwick, Westbury, and L.A as I'm sure you've known people to uproot too. We don't even have block parties. I think we were the only block in 11225 who didn't.... The idea for creating the townhouses PLG comprises was for neighbors to have a neighborhood, not just a place to live. I'd like to see that revived. What would you suggest?
